Title: The Saints win the title for the 20th year in a row.
Limestone College’s women’s field hockey program has been a success from the start. Every year the team gets better and better. This year was no exception. Head Coach Lindsay Jackson has been recruiting from the best teams in the nation for years now. And it’s not hard to get the girls to come at all, who wouldn’t want to be a part of the best women’s field hockey program of the century. This year’s regular season record was 19-0. They never miss a beat. Every day the girls show up on the field to play their A game. Without any doubt that is what they did today. Today’s game was against longtime rival Shippensburg University. The site of the game was in Gaffney South Carolina at the Parker turf complex. The complex was named after Sara Parker a player of the inaugural team who scored the first goal in the books for the saints. The turf was as perfect as always and today’s weather was outstandingly beautiful for a mid-November day. In the first minute freshmen midfield Sasha Rummel ripped a shot from the top of the circle the goal tender for Ship Amy Davies would have no clue what was about to hit her. Junior forward Melisa King stepped in front of the ball and deflected the ball into the upper left corner of the net the crowd went wild because that was Melisa’s 100th goal for the season an all-time high for number of goals in a season. That lone goal was enough to win the game. Shippensburg would not have one shot on goal. All in all today’s game was one to write in the books the Limestone field hockey teams is excited to get their rings this year to add to their collection.
